Breakout 5: The TBM journey within a governmental organisation

The Danish Tax office is implementing the TBM mindset, which has truly been a learning experience.
The session will be about the challenges with the implementation of TBM in a political organisation, where different agendas and new board members play a significant role.

Martin Wood

Director of Operations and Development, Skat (Danish Tax Office)

SKAT (lit. Tax) is the name of the Danish tax authority. It is the state authority under which the Danish Treasury calculates and collects taxes and levies charges. The authority also undertakes property valuation and settlement of debts. SKAT is organized into different core units and 30 local tax centers. Tax Centres cover the entire country but Danish citizens can in principle apply to any tax center. There are also 22 customs operations. It was created by the merger of the National Customs and Tax Administration and the municipal tax administrations.

Breakout 7: The Big 5 - Bringing diverse stakeholder groups together

Deutsche Bank embarked on its TBM journey about 2 years back and since then it has been a wild safari to bring people on a common platform and drive towards a collective goal – taking control of our spend. While it’s still work-in-progress, we have achieved great strides in stakeholder management through partnership, planning and agile practices. This session will cover how we have managed to stay afloat amidst the hurdles and complex infrastructure and even went onto accomplishing a series of small wins.

Breakout 8: The princess, the well, and the frog - IT at Boehringer Ingelheim goes TBM

The journey of using the TBM model at Boehringer Ingelheim started early 2017 with the desire to increase the transparency of IT costs - for two main reasons: within IT to support a strategic sourcing and service delivery model – and to IT’s business partners to enable better informed IT-related business decisions with impact to IT. Since then, a stepwise implementation has been taking place, simplifying global budgeting, getting real services and applications TCOs, and changing the day-to-day cost reporting  routines. In his talk, Dirk will give insights into where and how TBM helped, which hurdles were overcome and about the next steps of the journey. Any similarities to known fairy tales are not coincidental.

Breakout 9: Questions, questions... Business agility & resilience begins with visibility

Today's CIOs need to balance cost, risk and quality. Many high-profile data breaches could have been avoided or managed more effectively if organisations had stronger security and operations fundamentals. It is vital to get the simple things right. How many endpoints are connected to your network right now? How many today run applications with unpatched vulnerabilities, how many versions do you have and how many are out of compliance? And tomorrow? If your organisation cannot answer these questions accurately, with confidence, at speed and at scale, then operational hygiene is broken and this is a barrier in the transformation towards Business Resilience. Tanium delivers an enterprise Business Resilience Management solution that is purpose-made to gather real-time data at scale to feed into your TBM Program, your Service Management solution or your CMDB. This helps to significantly reduce the time-to-value and take your TBM initiative to the next level with real-time context and accountability.

Simon Mullis

Technical Director EMEA, Tanium

Tanium gives the world’s largest enterprises and government organizations the unique power to secure, control, and manage millions of endpoints across the enterprise within seconds. With the unprecedented speed, scale, and simplicity of Tanium, security and IT operations teams now have complete and accurate information on the state of endpoints at all times to more effectively protect against modern day threats and realize new levels of cost efficiency in IT operations..
