The Practice Guides
Four references for building and running a TBM Practice
Source data and the Taxonomy both feed the TBM model. Data Strategy & Architecture covers the source data the model depends on. The Taxonomy defines the elements in each layer. The Modeling Guide explains how cost is tagged and allocated up through those layers. The Adoption Guide covers the Practice that builds, governs, and uses the model.

Development, governance, and feedback
Every guide in the library follows the same process. The TBM Council Standards, Research, and Training team leads authoring with contributors from member organizations, consulting and delivery partners, and TBM platform providers. The TBM Standards Committee reviews each guide before publication and governs it afterward.
Author
The Standards, Research, and Training team drafts the guide with practitioner and partner contributors, building on the TBM Framework and Taxonomy.
Review
The TBM Standards Committee reviews the draft. The full Committee votes on each guide before it is published.
Publish
Each guide is released to members with a version number and a version history that records changes, authors, contributors, and reviewers.
Maintain
The Committee reviews each guide at least once a year. Corrections to errors or a new Taxonomy version can trigger an interim update.
Feedback informs the next revision
The TBM Standards Committee
Committee members are practitioners from public- and private-sector organizations across industries, joined by representatives of consulting and delivery partners and TBM platform providers. This mix keeps the guides consistent with how TBM is practiced across sectors, delivery models, and tools.
Participation is by invitation, based on demonstrated skill, experience, and thought leadership in TBM. It is never determined by financial contribution to TBM Council. The Committee holds monthly Open Forums that any member can attend.
Where feedback comes from
- TBM Council members and Strategy Communities
- TBM Ambassadors
- Consulting, delivery, and platform partners
- Standards Committee Open Forums
- Public feedback windows during major revisions
