Financial & Business Management for IT Leaders
Take the Financial & Business Management for IT Leaders (FBMIT) Course to learn the core principles and skills of financial management needed to be better stewards of their IT budgets, resources and costs. Students will learn foundational accounting principles, how to better manage their own budgets, what goes into the total cost of ownership (TCO) of their assets and services, return on investment (ROI) approaches, and the various techniques for funding IT and recovering IT costs from their business partners. By attending this course, students will become more well-rounded business leaders.

Upon completion of this course, you will better understand:
- How corporate financial management works and the impact of IT spending on a company’s financial statements
- The difference between operating expenses vs. capital expenditures (OpEx vs. CapEx) The capitalization of IT expenditures (such as software development)
- Depreciation and amortization of IT assets such as hardware and software
- How cloud and managed service provider costs are treated
- How to manage the IT budget and baseline vs. zero-based budgeting
- What goes into the total cost of ownership (TCO) of IT assets and services

- Concepts of marketing IT services to the rest of the business
