What the Survey Covers
Each year, the survey explores the maturity, adoption, and impact of TBM practices across industries and geographies. Key areas include:
- Cost transparency and optimization
- Agile funding and operating models
- TBM team structure and responsibilities
- Cloud financial management and FinOps convergence
- Portfolio and product-level investment governance
- Organizational challenges and success factors
- Expansion of TBM into new domains (i.e.: sustainability, compliance, and AI domains)
These findings illuminate how TBM capabilities evolve over time and what practices are proving most impactful.
Survey Methodology and Data Cycle
Data is collected through a global survey fielded in Q2–Q3. The TBM Council commissions third-party research firms to recruit a representative cross-section of technology and finance leaders across enterprise, midmarket, and public sector organizations. Results are analyzed by Council staff to extract trends, benchmark adoption levels, and surface leading practices.
Survey highlights are previewed in November at the annual TBM Conference, followed by the release of the full report soon after. Each year’s report is accompanied by a dedicated webpage and downloadable PDF, with promotional support via social channels and press releases.
