The salary story is really a career story
The strongest patterns in the inaugural data are not about one city, one credential, or one tool. Higher compensation is more often associated with broader ownership, governance, strategic capability, and decision support.
Scope of influence matters more than tenure alone
Experience does not create a simple salary ladder. Upper compensation bands are more often associated with broader accountability for stewardship, platforms, governance, stakeholders, and leadership.
Industry context matters more than geography
Industry and sector show wider compensation differences than geography or organization size in the current analysis — especially once practitioners move beyond Analyst roles.
Strategic capability shows up at the top
94.4% of respondents earning $180K+ selected Strategic Thinking, while integrated Platform + BI environments are also more common in the highest compensation cohort.

What changes as compensation rises?
The survey does not prove that any one capability causes higher pay. It does show that several strategic and integrated-work patterns occur more often among the highest-compensated respondents.
61.1%
of the $180K+ cohort works in a Platform + BI environment, compared with 35.7% below $150K.
A descriptive association, not a causal claim.
