Introducing the Next Generation of TBM Training: Built for Action. Designed for Value Outcomes.
Over the last decade, the Certified TBM Executive (CTBME) course helped launch the global practice of Technology Business Management. It introduced hundreds of executives and practitioners to the TBM Taxonomy, inspired adoption across industries, and seeded a community of early champions.
Now, TBM has evolved—and so have the demands on its practitioners.
Today’s TBM leaders are not just evangelists. They are financial modelers, data translators, value managers, and transformation agents embedded across the enterprise. They need more than awareness. They need actionable skills.
That’s why we’re proud to introduce an all-new TBM Education, Training, and Certification Program, designed from the ground up to support the real-world work of TBM.
This course emphasizes practical skills and includes hands-on exercises, real-world scenarios, and guided adoption practices—designed to help you hit the ground running.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Navigate and apply the new TBM Framework to align technology with organizational value drivers.
- Build a basic TBM model starting from financial data through to service‑level cost insights.
- Deliver core TBM use‑cases like Cost Transparency, Cloud Planning, and Portfolio Alignment.
- Assess your organization’s readiness for TBM adoption, including data, roles, and change management.
- Apply practical methods to sustain stakeholder trust and demonstrate value early and often.

Why Attend if You’re New to TBM?
You don’t need to be a TBM expert to start creating value.
This course was built for people who want a clear, structured, and practical entry point into TBM—whether you’re in finance, product, cloud, portfolio, or strategy.
You’ll walk away with:
- A solid understanding of the new TBM Framework and how it’s used in practice.
- Hands-on experience building TBM models, from raw data to actionable insights.
- The ability to connect technology investments to business value in terms stakeholders understand.
- A toolkit of ready-to-use templates, examples, and methods to start delivering value in your role immediately.
No matter your background, you’ll gain a shared language and skill set to collaborate effectively with TBM teams and influence technology value decisions.
Why Attend if You’ve Taken the Old Course or Are Already Certified?
The new TBM Practitioner Course is not an update to the old CTBME—it’s a complete re‑engineering of how we teach TBM.
Here’s what’s different:
- Built for skills, not titles — CTBME focused on executive awareness; this course builds practical modeling, planning, and adoption skills.
- Aligned to the TBM Framework 5.0+ — incorporates the latest Taxonomy, modeling approaches, and integrations with connected standards like FinOps and CSDM.
- Hands-on and scenario‑driven — you’ll work through real use‑cases, not just theory.
- Expanded scope — covers foundational data, role alignment, adoption planning, and sustaining TBM value.
- Future‑proofed — designed to prepare you for advanced TBM specializations and evolving business priorities.
Even if you’ve taken the old course or have been certified, you’ll leave with updated skills, current standards, and practical approaches that reflect the reality of TBM today.
What Comes Next: A Scalable Learning Journey
This course is just the beginning.
The TBM Practitioner Certification serves as the foundation for a broader, role-based education program currently in development. Future offerings will include advanced courses and certifications for professionals and experts, TBM specialist certifications in high-value domains like AI, cloud, or sustainability, and supplemental video-on-demand content tailored for specific functions or industries.
Retiring CTBME: Honoring the Past, Enabling the Future
As part of this launch, the Certified TBM Executive (CTBME) course will be formally retired. While CTBME was invaluable in the early days of TBM—helping define the art of the possible—our new training program is designed to meet the needs of today’s practitioners and the evolving complexity of TBM in practice.
Why it Matters
This is more than a rebrand. It’s a complete transformation of how we equip individuals and organizations to practice TBM effectively—across industries, job roles, and maturity levels. Whether you’re running models, governing investments, or planning for AI and innovation, the new TBM program is built to help you create measurable, sustainable value.
