New global community initiative challenges TBM practitioners and ecosystem partners to develop practical solutions to real-world technology business management challenges
BELLEVUE, WASH. – October 1, 2026 – The Technology Business Management (TBM) Council, a global nonprofit dedicated to advancing the practice of TBM, today announced the launch of the 2026 TBM Council Hackathon, a new competition bringing together TBM practitioners and ecosystem partners from around the world to develop innovative, practical solutions to real-world Technology Business Management challenges.
The inaugural Hackathon invites participants from across the global TBM community to apply the TBM Framework alongside technologies such as artificial intelligence, analytics, and automation to address challenges facing technology and business leaders today.
Participants will have the opportunity to turn ideas into working concepts, demonstrate new approaches to TBM, and share their innovations with the broader TBM community.
“The TBM community has always been built around collaboration, shared learning, and finding better ways to connect technology investments to business value,” said Matt Guarini, Executive Director of TBM Council. “The Hackathon creates a new opportunity for practitioners and ecosystem partners to put that spirit into action – experimenting with new ideas and developing solutions that can help advance the practice of TBM.”
Bringing the TBM Community Together
Participants will develop a solution addressing a real-world TBM challenge and may use technologies, platforms, and tools of their choice to bring their ideas to life.
The Hackathon features two tracks: one for TBM Practitioners and one for Ecosystem Members. An independent judging process involving experienced TBM leaders from across the community will identify finalists and winners in each track.
In addition to the judging process, attendees at the 2026 TBM Conference will cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award – giving the broader TBM community a direct voice in recognizing the most practical, high-impact innovations.
From Ideas to Real-World Impact
The Hackathon encourages participants to explore how emerging technologies and new approaches can help organizations address evolving TBM challenges – from improving decision-making and increasing automation to generating actionable insights and demonstrating the business value of technology investments.
Winners will be recognized in connection with the 2026 TBM Conference, taking place November 9-11 in Miami, Florida.
